Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

Represents the infrastructure and operations perspective throughout the entire project life cycle. Tracks the deployment progress, evaluates the technical implementation, coordinates team activities, researches and resolves any implementation or production problems in a timely manner. The IT Infrastructure Engineer supports infrastructure consisting of Windows Servers, Linux Servers, Active Directory, Virtualized Environments and Managed Cloud Services. These systems are used to run the various computer applications on which our company's operations depend.

 

  • Determine manageability, supportability, and ownership implications associated with long-term management and support of the product.
  • Manage procurement and installation of infrastructure requirements.
  • Ensure a smooth deployment process, installation, rollout, and migration of the product to the operations and support groups.
  • Design and implement product deployment, rollout, and migration strategies from development through deployment.
  • Identifies major operational risks and action plans and operational risks associated with all phases of development of new systems and modifications of existing systems.
  • Support Microsoft Windows Servers and Desktops in a Virtual Environment
  • Coordinating upgrades, change impact analysis and communications with service providers
  • Working with vendor to insure Backup and Recovery policies are followed
  • Provide performance management analysis, guidance and tuning
  • Insure 24x7 availability of all systems by providing support for technologies such as:
    • Vsphere 5 and Vmware Horizon View
    • Active Directory
    • Commvault
  • Server Life Cycle, deployment process development and Configuration Management
  • Should understand the testing and development environments and their components.
  • Plans tests and executes upgrades to keep systems current
  • Communicate application problems and issues to key stakeholders, including management, development teams, end users, and unit leaders
  • Test fixes and perform post-resolution follow-ups to ensure problems have been adequately resolved
  • Post software updates, drivers, knowledge bases, and frequently asked questions resources on company intranet to assist in problem resolution
  • Perform preventative maintenance, including but not limited to the installation of service packs, patches, hot fixes, anti-virus software
  • Apply diagnostic utilities to aid in troubleshooting
  • Identify and learn appropriate software applications used and supported by the organization
  • Monitors and collects data on system performance.
  • Execute backup and recovery procedures.
  • Practice daily continuous improvement in all aspects of work, emphasizing problem solving and sharing with others
  • Understanding of migration strategies and integration infrastructures.
  • Excellent understanding of full life cycle development.
  • Excellent technical, analytical, problem solving, multitasking, and time management skills with consistent attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively learn and use new programming concepts, tools, and methodology to support the needs of the business.
  • Performs platform capacity planning and management.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Skill Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of Information Technology
  • Prior work experience with:
    • VMware Horizon View and Hyper-converged Infrastructure
    • VMware ESXi
    • Wireless, LAN and WAN network experience a plus
  • Microsoft networking skills utilizing
    • Windows Server 2003,2008, 2012 and Active Directory
  • Experience deploying and configuring applications on the cloud (AWS, Azure or GCP) is a MUST
  • Office365 migrations, Exchange Online, Skype, Office, SharePoint and OneDrive for Business.
  • Experience in build automation tools like Jenkins, Hudson etc.
  • Experience in creating CI/CD scripts using Ant, Maven etc.
  • Strong understanding of firewall architectures, networking, and cloud security concepts.
  • Expertise in storage design for high availability and disaster recovery.
  • Experience in Automation IT infrastructure using well-known languages and frameworks such as PowerShell, Puppet, and/or Chef.
