About this Opportunity

MedFax is looking for a senior level database administrator to join our team. The successful candidate should be comfortable operating in a fast, dynamic environment and will be expected to take on a leadership role setting standards and working closely with our development team. Should be High level technical contributor for Database Design and Administration. This individual will be responsible for all phases of Database design. This self-starter acts independently under general direction. With his/her in-depth knowledge, provides technical consulting and support on complex projects. Candidates for this position should have a thorough understanding of database concepts and experience in advanced database design (In Memory Database a plus); clustering; replication; log shipping; performance tuning; etc

Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support Database Engineering in managing of SQL and NoSQL database environments.
  • Evaluate storage and processing capacity requirements for existing and proposed databases
  • Develop and implement appropriate database backup, recovery, archiving, and replication strategies, performance tuning; troubleshooting; problem resolution;
  • Participate in project planning. Provide estimates for database-related activities
  • Provide leadership in assisting development initiatives from requirement collection to completion
  • Administration of daily SQL Backups and Restore requests with 3rd party tools such as RedGate/SQL LiteSpeed/SIOS
  • Define users and enable data distribution to the right user, in appropriate format and in a timely manner
  • Use high-speed transaction recovery techniques and backup data
  • Minimize database downtime and manage parameters to provide fast query responses
  • Provide proactive and reactive data management support and training to users
  • Determine, enforce and document database policies, procedures and standards
  • Perform tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security, privacy and integrity
  • Monitor database performance, implement changes and apply new patches and versions when required

Qualifications

Skills Summary:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree or M.S in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent
  • 5 plus years supporting high availability Data Warehouse environment like star schemas, etc.
  • 5 plus years developing and supporting ETL's to pull in data from various systems.
  • Building ETL, performance tuning and implementing standards for development teams.
  • Query performance optimization in MS SQL & Oracle databases and stored procedures
  • 3+ years of experience working in Linux/Unix environment
  • Experience architecting, building and managing Cassandra
  • Experience building and managing PostgreSQL
  • Knowledge and work with basic Cloud services and cloud
  • Proficient in writing and optimizing T-SQL code and Stored Procedures
  • Must be able to perform SQL Server software new installs and upgrades
  • Expert Data Loading and ETL experience
  • Adaptability and willingness to change directions/requirements in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to maintain and support SQL Server Transactional and merge replication
  • Should understand No-Sql concepts
  • Must be able to use tools like SQL Server profiler and Windows performance monitor
  • Must have a thorough understanding of Disk and Server configuration for SQL Server
  • Must have Experience with Software Development Lifecycle
  • Must be able to monitor and optimize the performance of the database.
  • Must be able to write and maintain batch jobs and automate day-to-day task
  • In Memory Database experience is a plus
  • Understanding of Hadoop HDFS and MapReduce framework is a definite plus
  • Experience with components in Hadoop echo system is a plus
  • Some proficiency in programming in Spark is a plus
  • Experience architecting and building data fabric with kafka would be a plus
  • Experience with open source frameworks like Puppet or Chef for deployment and configuration management is a plus
  • Experience with SSIS and SSRS a plus
